Sidney Councilman and former mayor Mark Nienhueser has announced his resignation. Nienhueser has accepted a new job opportunity requiring him to relocate by April 3rd. Nienhueser has been on the council since December of 2010.
Nienhueser’s resignation has opened a vacancy that Mayor Joe Arterburn must fill in 30 days. Anyone interested in applying to be on the council is asked to contact the city hall, and fill out an application explaining why they are best fit for the job by March 23rd. Mayor Arterburn plans to have a candidate to present to the council by the next meeting on March 28th.
The City Council consists of five members who serve four year terms, and is the governing body of the city.
