Sidney City Manager Ed Sadler gave a presentation at a “State Of Sidney” meeting put on by the Cheyenne County Chamber. Sadler explained that Sidney is going to see a lot of traffic in August for the solar eclipse and the sesquicentennial events.
The city wants the town to be in tip-top shape for the tourists in the area. Sadler said that he has noticed a lot of signs that are either run down or for businesses that no longer exist. He plans to make an ordinance that would require sign improvement.
In April, each city staff member will be designated six blocks of Sidney to inspect. Property owners will then be notified of any violations.
Sadler also explained that the way a town looks is a high priority to a business's decision of what town to open in.
