POTTER, Neb. - The Potter Volunteer Fire Department was called to a fire on Saturday, April 15, at 4:53pm to the Mo and Diane Horst farm one mile east of Potter. When firefighters arrived on scene at 5:05pm, an out building was found to be on fire, with the flames ready to breach the outside of the building.
19 firefighters and seven units responded to the fire. The fire was under control and extinguished by 6:55 pm. Two crews returned later to extinguish some embers that had reignited, and remained on scene until 11:15 pm. One building was completely destroyed, and two adjacent structures received significant damage.
The cause of the fire and damage estimates are unknown at this time. The incident is under investigation by the Nebraska State Fire Marshall's office, with assistance by the Potter Volunteer Fire Department. Over 10,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire.
