SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - In an effort to continue to reduce the number of crashes involving impaired driving, Troop E- Scottsbluff is again conducting special enforcement efforts designed to reduce the potential for serious injury and fatality crashes.
From April 14 through June 30, Nebraska State Troopers will be conducting weekend nighttime vehicle checks and high visibility patrols in Scotts Bluff County.
“We’ve conducted this type of enforcement for the past four years,” said Captain Jamey Balthazor, Commander Troop E Scottsbluff. “In the last four years there has only been one alcohol involved fatal crash in Scotts Bluff County during the months of the special initiative. We think this is significant as this time frame includes area proms and graduations as well as the beginning of the summer vacation and travel season.”
A $13,900 grant from the Nebraska Department of Roads Highway Safety Office will help pay for overtime hours during the special enforcement.
