Sidney Dairy Queen raises money for Special Ed Program

SIDNEY, Neb. – April was Autism Awareness month and several Sidney businesses sponsored events for children with autism.

Dairy Queen of Sidney kicked off the month with the ‘Walk for Autism & Light it Up Blue’ event on April 2 where participants walked around the Cabela’s pond and then celebrated with cake and ice cream before Dairy Queen “lit up blue,” the color associated with autism awareness.

Those who attended were able to purchase blue light bulbs with the proceeds going to benefit the Sidney Public Schools Special Education program. Tom Von Seggern, President of the Sidney School Board, notified KSID that Dairy Queen donated $1,000 to the program.
