Potter man pleads no contest for “cutting another man’s throat”

SIDNEY, Neb. - Christian Willey, 20 of Potter, pled No Contest to Attempted Second Degree Assault, a class IIIA felony, on Tuesday, May 9, in Cheyenne County District Court. Willey was arrested on January 2 for, allegedly, cutting the throat of another man with a knife.

The Cheyenne County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene where they found the victim, Randy Sandini, who walked out of the residence and past one of the Deputies on scene. Willey was then advised to exit the home with his hands up where they could be seen.

According to an arrest affidavit provided by the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, once Willey exited, the Deputies received permission to search the residence for the weapon used to assault Sandini. Upon entering the home, a knife was found on the floor in the doorway of the residence.

Willey was immediately arrested and taken to the Cheyenne County Jail to be booked in on his original felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The court accepted his plea, ordered a presentence investigation, and scheduled sentencing for June 6.
