Semi fire near Sidney spreads to pasture, burns 320 acres

SIDNEY, Neb. - A semi headed westbound on Interstate 80 blew a tire causing the rig to catch fire Saturday afternoon, about 10 miles west of Sidney. When the truck pulled off to the side of the interstate, the fire spread to a pasture on the side of the road.

Sidney Fire Chief Keith Stone said that Sidney, Potter, Lodgepole and Peetz Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the fire that burnt approximately 320 acres. It took 38 firefighters with 22 apparatuses about six hours to extinguish the blaze.

The Cheyenne County Sheriff and Nebraska State Patrol were also on scene. There were no injuries.
