Cheyenne County Community Center raises money for upgrades

SIDNEY, Neb. - The Cheyenne County Community Center will be upgrading some equipment with the money raised from the “Smokin’ Gun” 5k run that took place during the Sesquicentennial celebration in Sidney

$1,855 was raised from entry fees. After shirts and prizes were purchased for the runners, the community center was able to profit $1,100.

Of the 57 that participated, Dan Schumacher was the fastest male with a time of 21 minutes and 41 seconds, Kristin Schmidt was the fastest female coming in at 22 minutes. They both won a $50 gift certificate to Road Runner Sports. Kayla Westby was the fastest youth running the 5k in 27 minutes and 55 seconds winning $25.

Activities Director Kiersten Richards said that she, “would like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event possible. I hope to have more in the future.”
