Supplies being collected in Sidney for Harvey relief

SIDNEY, Neb. -  The Sidney VFW Post 610 have been collecting items this week to take to Texas to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Adams Industries provided a semi with a 48-foot trailer and a driver. The VFW said Tuesday that the truck was about a third of the way full. On Wednesday they said the trailer was filling up but they want to see it “bursting at the seams.”

The list of items needed included canned food, bottled water, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items. However the VFW said at this point they would like to see more food items donated that are canned, or nonperishable.

Thursday September 7 is the last day the VFW along with the DAV and American Legion will be taking donations before they have to pack up the truck and send it to Texas. The truck and volunteers will be at the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds from 4-8pm to take the last bit of donations.
