US-30 speed limit increased from Ogallala to Wyoming

SIDNEY, Neb. - At the request of the State Highway Commission, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has started reviewing rural two-lane highways throughout the State.  One of the corridors that was identified is highway US-30 from Wyoming to Ogallala, which has been posted at 60 miles per hour.

NDOT spokeswoman Jeni Campana says that based on an engineering study of this corridor, it was recommended that the speed limit be increased to 65 miles per hour. Through efficient use of resources on hand, the district personnel were able to install the new signs quickly without undue delay rather than waiting to order new signs for their inventory.

Once the determination for the change in speed was finalized, NDOT worked with the local communities, local law enforcement and State Patrol to help make those affected aware of the change.
