Snowstorm closes interstate in Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Snow blanketed much of southeast Wyoming and closed a 150-mile stretch of Interstate 80 for about nine hours.

The storm struck late Sunday and into Monday morning, leaving behind hazardous road conditions and slumping tree branches.

Cheyenne received about 6 inches of snow. Other snowfall reports included 9.8 inches in rural Laramie County, 8.9 inches in Albany County, 8.5 inches in Converse County and 8 inches in Carbon County.

The snow caused slick road conditions, especially along the I-80 corridor.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation closed I-80 from Cheyenne to Rawlins from about 1 a.m. to about 10:30 a.m. Monday because of slick conditions.
