Sidney advertises in Omaha and Denver: “Ready to Expand?”

SIDNEY, Neb. - Sidney Economic Development Director Melissa Norgard said that the city will be putting an ad in the Omaha paper and on their website starting today, November 15, and the Denver paper and their website starting next week to drum up interest of having jobs come to Sidney. The goal of the ads that will run for four weeks is to catch the interest of employers that are having difficulty finding a workforce in the community they are currently in.

Norgard said that she did research on cities where there is more jobs than employees before putting together an ad with a graphic designer. Norgard found in her research that employers in the Omaha area are having to get creative because they don’t have enough employees to choose from.

Interested businesses won't necessarily have to move their headquarters but can have a satellite location in the Sidney area where there are offices available.

Norgard added that a firm in Denver or Omaha could see the opportunity to be able to pay their employees less, and could hire skilled people that are already living in the Sidney area.

Sidney is also expected to get national attention. A National Public Radio (NPR) reporter recently came to Sidney and will have a story coming out in a couple of weeks about the Cabela’s and Bass Pro merger and what the feelings are after. Norgard said she gave input on how she knew Sidney before Cabela's was a large corporation, and how it has made the public lose sight of other opportunities for other companies.
