Terroristic threat found in Creek Valley restroom

CHAPPELL, Neb. - Creek Valley Public School officials were made aware of a terroristic threat written on the wall in one of the high school restrooms on Wednesday, February 28.

Once the threat was found, the school officials immediately contacted the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office who have begun investigating the incident.

7-12 Principal and Co-Activities Director of Creek Valley Schools, Patrick Ningen, said, “We are taking this threat very seriously, this isn’t just a harmless joke to us.”

The written threat noted Thursday, March 1, as the target date for carrying out the terroristic event. In response, the Deuel County Sheriff’s Office will have multiple officers on scene tomorrow at the school and all high school and elementary students must enter the building through the main entrance to begin the school day.

According to a statement released from Creek Valley Public Schools, all high school students’ bags will be searched by members of the Deuel County Sheriff’s Department. School officials recommend that if a student bag is not needed, to not bring one.The high school and elementary school buildings will be on Lockout for the entire school day which means all exterior doors will be locked at all times, but classes will continue as normal.

High school students passing between buildings will have a staff escort at all times. Campus will also be closed for lunch meaning students must either ride the bus to the elementary and back for lunch, or bring a lunch and eat it at the high school. No students will be allowed to walk or get rides at lunch time.

The administration of Creek Valley Schools completed their statement with a message directed to parents assuring them that the kids’ safety is of the utmost importance.

“We will be vigilant in making our schools a safe and open place to learn. We ask that if you hear anything about this, or any other incident, to please call the school at 308-874-3310.”
