The Rock Sports Bar & Grill ribbon cutting.

Another ribbon cutting in Sidney at The Rock Sports Bar & Grill shows that sometimes things come full circle.  The Rock was originally The Peso De Oro, owned by Maynard and  Marvie Wieser, which was a long time Sidney favorite spot for Mexican food. Built in 1981, the grand opening was the day the Sidney Lady Raiders won the Nebraska State Volleyball Championship in Class B.  Fast forward thirty-seven years and now the Wiesers’ daughter, Jane Woodis and her husband Bob, along with Steve and Angela Hartzler purchased the bar.  Jane Woodis told KSID that the two couples had always wanted to own their own business and to own the place her father built held significant meaning.  So The Rock was purchased.  A huge renovation took place, reopening the up and down stairs adding bright lights, games and numerous TV’s and adding an evening menu full of smoked BBQ and burgers.  The basement is also available for private parties.  Woodis stated the two couples also felt as though Sidney needed a lift and so they wanted to be “The Rock” of the town.  Official opening is tomorrow at The Rock from 11am-1am with a live performance from Nebraska’s own Nicki Rezac.  For more information, check out The Rock Sports Bar & Grill on Facebook. The Rock Sports Bar & Grill is located at 1540 10th Avenue.
