Michigan family killed in northeastern Colorado crash

STERLING, Colo. (AP) — Officials have released the names of four members of a Michigan family who died in a crash with a semitrailer in northeastern Colorado.

The Colorado State Patrol says 48-year-old Thomas Toth and 48-year-old Christina Daskas-Toth died early Saturday when their van hit a jackknifed semi on Interstate 76 about 5 miles east of Sterling.

Sonja Franchett, principal at Maire Elementary in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, said the crash also killed the couple's daughters — 11-year-old Sophia and 8-year-old Elianna. She said the family was on vacation.

The patrol says the Toth family's van was eastbound when it hit the semi, going underneath it. The collision ripped the roof off the van.
