COLUMBUS — The Sidney Lady Raider Golf Team wrapped up their successful season with a fifth place finish at the Nebraska Class B Girl’s Golf Championships. The two-day tournament began on Monday and was held on the 5302 yard Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus.

The Lady Raider’s day one total of 377 put them in third place behind Omaha Duchesne Academy and Scottsbluff in the team standings. Columbus was one shot back and Gering trailed Sidney by five shots. Emma Alexander led Sidney with a first round 80, which put her in third place in the individual standings.

On day two, Sidney ballooned to a 389 team score which dropped them to fifth place in the tournament. Gering bounced back on Tuesday with a 363, and the 19 shot improvement moved the Bulldogs up to a third place finish. Omaha Duchesne easily took the team title with a 697 which outdistanced runner-up Scottsbluff by 30 strokes.

Emma Alexander was Sidney’s only medalist, as the senior ended up with a two-day total of 169 which was good enough for a seventh place finish. Scottsbluff’s Shelby Poynter took individual medalist honors with a 155.
