Huskers drop first basketball game of the season, 79-56 vs St. John's

NEW YORK, Ny. - The Nebraska men’s basketball team dropped their first game of the season last night against the St. John’s Red Storm, 79-56. James Palmer, Jr. led the Huskers in scoring with 13 while adding five boards and a team high three assists.  

Shamorie Ponds scored 22 points, Justin Simon had 13 points and 12 rebounds, as St. John's pulled away early from Nebraska.

Bashir Ahmed scored 15 points and Marcus LoVett added 13 with three assists for St. John's as the Red Storm move to 3-0 on the year. St. John’s outrebounded Nebraska 50-39 and outscored them 44-16 in the paint.

The Huskers return back home to Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday to host the 2-1 North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
