Rockies fall 8-2 in season opener against the Dbacks

PHOENIX, Ari. - Jake Lamb doubled and singled to drive in four runs, Patrick Corbin struck out eight while pitching into the sixth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 8-2 in the season opener for the NL West foes.

DJ LeMahieu hit a home run in the top of the first inning to give the Rockies an early lead, but Arizona struck for three in the bottom half of the frame to regain a lead they never relinquished. Nolan Arenado sent a solo shot out to left center in the sixth to cut the deficit to just one, 3-2, but the Diamondbacks answered back scoring three in the 6th and two in the seventh.

Both teams will meet again tonight at Chase Field as the Rockies send Tyler Anderson on the mound against Arizona’s Robby Ray. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 MST.
