Red Raiders capture twilight meet, Lady raiders second

SCOTTSBLUFF — The Sidney Red Raider Track Team captured gold in 6 events to run away with the boys team title at the West Nebraska Twilight Track and Field meet in Scottsbluff on Thursday.  The Lady Raiders snagged 5 gold medals on their way to a second place finish behind Gering.

The Sidney boys got the running events off to a blazing start when Cade Lewis, Christian Balandran and Derek Robb went 1-2-3 in the 100 Meter. Other first place finishes included, Jon Smith in the 300 Meter Hurdles, Arik Doty in the Discus, Mitch Porter in the High Jump as well as the 4x100 and 4x400 Relay teams.

For the Lady Raiders, Charlie Brockhaus earned gold with Morgan Jaggers not far behind as Sidney went 1-2 in the 1600 Meter Run. Other first place finishes included Natalie Radcliffe in the 300 Meter Hurdles, Kendra Nesbitt in the Shot Put, Katelyn Sylvester in the Discus and MJ Johnstone, who once again added to her school record with a vault of 11’4” in the Pole Vault.
